Just One Day By: Gayle Forman

Just One Day was written by Gayle Forman. The premise is recent high school graduate, Allyson Healey, travels to London on an organized trip with a group of students. While at the Globe Theater Allyson meets Willem. On a flirtatious whim Allyson follows Willem to Paris for just one day. But that one day starts a whirl-wind adventure that takes Allyson a year to make sense of.
Just One Day isn't a book. It's a doorway to independence, adventure, and a love so strong it can't be shaken. I couldn't put this book down. There are some writers who's writing style blend together like a painting behind frosted glass. Then there are authors who's writing style is so unique it's like stained glass. Gayle Forman's writing is like a window filled with the colors of a sunset. Starting on the large sky and moving slowly in until you're left with the sun on the horizon. Gayle Forman writes characters that are so distinct and life-like that I could pick them out of a line-up. Once I started this book I started to think and feel like Allyson. The wonder of exploring a new city; the excitement of going on a day-long adventure to Paris. It all whirled around me like a tornado. This book flowed like molasses. It started out smooth and then more plot-twists and emotions just kept pouring.
This book did not disappoint me at any point. It is wonderful for people who long to travel but lack the ability to. Just One Day whisks you to so many places; from England to France to America then to Holland. Beautifully executed. A book worth the read.
